Entomology
Profile of the Department of Entomology.
The Department of Entomology was established in Sri Mekapati Goutham Reddy Agricultural College, Udayagiri, SPSR Nellore District in the year 2022. The department is offering undergraduate (UG) Entomology courses for the students enrolled in this college.
In UG programme the Department offers six courses namely Fundamentals of Entomology I (Insect Morphology and Taxonomy) in the First year, Fundamentals of Entomology II (Insect Ecology and Concepts of IPM) in the Second year, Pests of Field crops & Stored Grain and their Management, Pest of Horticultural Crops and their Management and Beneficial insects in the Third year of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture. Apart from these courses Dept. of Entomology also offers two courses as Elective courses in third year namely Bio pesticides and Bio fertilizers, Agrochemicals.
The main object of this department is to enhance the knowledge on Insect Morphology, Taxonomy, Insect Ecology and Insect Pest in Agricultural and horticultural crops and their management.
