Department Profile:

The Department of Statistics and Computer Applications was established in 2022 at Sri Mekapati Goutham Reddy Agricultural College, Udayagiri, SPSR Nellore District, with the objective of strengthening quantitative, computational, and analytical skills among undergraduate students.

The department offers courses that equip students with the mathematical, statistical, and information technology competencies essential for modern agriculture. During the 2022–23 and 2023–24 academic years, the department followed the V Dean’s Committee recommendations, offering Elementary Mathematics in the First Year, Statistical Methods in the Second Year, and Agricultural Informatics in the Third Year of the B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture programme.

In accordance with the recommendations of the VI Dean’s Committee, implemented from the 2024–25 academic year, the curriculum was revised to include Introductory Mathematics in the First Year, Agricultural Informatics and Artificial Intelligence in the Second Year, and Basic and Applied Agricultural Statistics in the Third Year.

The department is committed to developing students’ analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and decision-making skills by integrating the principles of Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Applications, and Artificial Intelligence with agricultural sciences. Through quality teaching and practical applications, the department strives to prepare graduates capable of addressing the emerging challenges of data-driven and technology-enabled agriculture.
